Launch of Fantastic New Project
November 30 @ 12:30 pm - 4:00 pmFREE
After weeks of planning we are now just two days away from our AGM, where will be launching our fantastic new Deaf and Disabled people’s history project called Forging Our Future!
Come and join us this Saturday (30th November) to:
– hear about our achievements in 2018-19,and
– celebrate the new project (Yes, there will be a little food with tea/coffee!), and
– hear from some of the people who succeeded in campaigning for Deaf and Disabled people’s rights.
Forging Our Future’s full title is Forging Our Future: Resistance Change and Leadership in Bristol’s Disabled people’s movement and is an oral history project. This project will see young Deaf and Disabled people researching Bristol’s Deaf and Disabled people’s history (1970s-2000s) and recording the oral history of those who were activists at the time.
It will also train up other Deaf and Disabled people as accessibility assessors and become a referference group for any heritage venue wanting to be more accessible.
At the end of the project, the young people will create a Deafness and disability history toolkit for schools and an accessibility self-assessment toolkit for heritage venues.
Are you someone who wants to know more about this history? A Deaf or Disabled person interested in being involved? Then come along.
This event is open to everyone so we are looking forward to seeing lots of you there!
