Coronavirus Updates

Bristol Disability Equality Forum is an organisation of, and for, Disabled people – whatever their impairment(s).

We work to the Social Model of Disability (SMD) and the principles of the Disabled people’s movement.  These are:

  • Independence, Choice and Control of our own lives,
  • Nothing About Us, Without Us, and
  • Full inclusion of Disabled people in society.

The Social Model of Disability

The social model is the idea that it is not our impairments that disable us, it’s other people’s attitudes and the way society is organised that is the problem.  For example, buildings with steps to the entrance instead of ramps and information that is not accessible.

We would like to express our support for the Black Lives Matter movement and our solidarity with all those working to dismantle tangible and symbolic barriers, and the advancement of equality and inclusion in Bristol and beyond.

If you want to see the full inclusion of Disabled people, why not join us and
