We are pleased and excited to be recruiting a Forum Deputy Manager.
This is a new post at a wholly Disabled people organisation, based in Bristol but with a growing national profile. We are a growing organisation with a number of highly-regarded projects, a significant ‘voice and influence’ role locally and an innovative project that includes setting up a Disabled people’s social enterprise.
Salary – £26-27,000 [£13,000-13,500 pro rata], depending on experience
Duration – Permanent, subject to funding
Hours – 18.5 pw [incl. some evening and/or weekend working]
Based – St Paul’s Learning Centre, Grosvenor Rd, BS2 8XJ
[Please note that it is an occupational requirement of this role that the successful applicant identifies as a Disabled person, whether that be due to physical impairment, neurodiversity, mental health difficulty, health condition, or other impairment.]
Main Purposes of the Deputy post
To support the Forum Manager/Chief Officer in their role, which has grown exponentially in the past few years, both in terms of Forum leadership and provision of expertise in disability issues.
To assist the Forum Manager in, and/or take the lead on aspects of, their role.
To implement the Forum’s current strategic and service development ambitions, reviewing and amending underpinning documents and policies, as agreed with the Forum Manager/Chief Officer. This includes ensuring it has the systems, processes, policies and personnel needed to perform at a high level of achievement.
To support and supervise some staff.
To work with colleagues to ensure the resilience and sustainability of the Forum, including taking the lead on some aspects of the work required to achieve this.
To lead on community development and volunteering.
Criteria and flexibility notes:
a. It is an occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010 that the successful applicant for each post identifies as a Disabled person. This means any applicant who doesn’t identify as a Disabled person will not be considered for the roles.
b. If a suitably experienced Disabled person meets the criteria for the half-time Deputy role and the full-time Community Development worker role, we are happy to consider a partial combination of the two. We are also open to applications for the Community Development role on a job share basis.
However, be aware that we cannot promise that an applicant will get the combination of roles, or the Community Development worker job share they would prefer, as it will depend on the applications received and the best interests of the work to be undertaking.
c. As those who are Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) are underrepresented within the Forum, we particularly welcome applications from Disabled people within these communities.
Please indicate whether you would consider a job share [You don’t have to be willing to consider it].
