Museums For Everyone
It’s not just about getting through the door!
Help make museums open to all.
Ever visited a museum of heritage site and been unable to:
☹ Get in and around all the public areas safely?
☹ Read labels?
☹ Get information in accessible language and formats?
☹ Find a quite space?
☹ Cope with the lighting?
☹ Find enough places to rest, on your way around the building?
Us too! So let’s get together and show museums how to welcome all Disabled visitors!
We invite Disabled people to join an Access Panel. You will learn how to carry out Access Appraisals in museums and heritage buildings. We will look at all aspects of access in museums, from ramps to signage to exhibition design … and more.

Forging Our Future Access Panel
The Access Panel is part of Bristol Disability Equality Forum’s Forging Our Future project.
Forging Our Future is working in partnership with Bristol Museums Service. Members of the Panel will use their new skills to carry out Access Appraisals of some of Bristol’s flagship museums.
We will also work together to produce access appraisal information that will be available after the end of the project.
We hope to start meeting in September – subject to the Corona Virus situation.
