Community development

Enabling Disabled people to take action on the things that matter to them

What this looks like in our work

BDEF’s Community Development work opens up ways for Disabled people to come together. This is done through supporting different groups starting reflecting geographical, community, interest-based ideas.

connecting

Acting as a link by connecting communities and community members

Facilitating

Identifying community needs and facilitating where needed

Meeting needs

Supporting and meeting access needs and reducing barriers to access

Supporting

Administrative tasks. In the current context, often administrative tasks are the barriers that prevent Disabled people from coming together (post COVID, Austerity, proposed benefit cuts).
