Members will remember that the Members’ meeting in April, and then the Annual General Meeting in June, agreed in principle for Bristol Disability Equality Forum to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). Changing to a CIO will give us a much better chance of getting funding from different places. It will also give protection to Trustees if the organisation ever gets into serious financial difficulty.

Bristol Disability Equality Forum held a Special Members’ meeting on 3rd October. At this meeting there was a Special Resolution. This resolution agreed to Bristol Disability Equality Forum being dissolved by 30th November 2024, and all its assets being transferred to the new organisation BDEF CIO. This means that everything Bristol Disability Equality Forum has and does will go to the new organisation. In many ways nothing will change.

The Special Resolution was passed unanimously by Bristol Disability Equality Forum members. This means the Trustees will now work to get the transfer complete by 30th November. We will of course let you know what happens in the next E-bulletin due out in January 2025.
